When’s the last time you received a love letter?
Dear Creator,
There is something about receiving a handwritten letter or card in the mail - snail mail that is. First of all, it is usually unexpected. Even if it’s your birthday, you never really know what will be in your mailbox, do you?
Second, seeing the handwriting of someone you know brings a feeling of connection. Especially if it’s written in cursive. My mother’s handwriting is unmistakable; slanted just right and all the loops dip down to the next line. It’s beautifully hers.
And third, the words are coming straight from your sender to you. It’s personal. And that means something.
I enjoy writing notes and letters to my friends, and family and sometimes I even write to strangers. I find it a challenge to dig deep into my thoughts and pull out just the right words to encourage, empathize or make someone laugh.
That’s what this blog is all about. I want to write loving letters of encouragement to you. I hope to make you smile and hopefully share some nuggets of wisdom about writing, art, the creative process and life. I wish I could handwrite all my letters to you, but let’s face it, in this day and age snail mail just doesn’t cut it for regular and consistent communication.
Of course, I like getting notes too! So leave a comment, a suggestion, a question or a joke of the day. I’d love to hear from you!
